Lactation/Breastfeeding Information
St. Louis Community College is committed to supporting students and employees who are breastfeeding.
The College will provide a private lactation room when there is a need. The lactation room will be lockable for privacy, shielded from view, free from intrusion; furnished with a chair, a table, electrical outlets; access to a nearby clean and safe water source with hot running water and soap for washing hands and rinsing any equipment.
Employees, students and guests may use the lactation room anytime during normal business hours.
St. Louis Community College supports employees who are breastfeeding by accommodating individuals who wish to express breast milk during their workday from the date of the nursing child’s birth up to 12 months. Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, St. Louis Community College will provide a private location so employees can take a reasonable break time to express breast milk. The employee and their immediate supervisor will agree on the times for breaks needed to express milk.
