Onboarding
St. Louis Community College is committed to supporting new employees in their successful transition to our workplace and supporting the college’s need to quickly enable new employees to achieve high levels of proficiency.
** All Offers of Employment are contingent upon satisfactory results from the references and criminal background check. Full-time faculty and Adjunct faculty must also complete the tuberculosis screening.
- Background Check – CastleBranch (does not include Federal WS Students)
- You will receive an email to launch your background check
- Processing takes 3-10 business days
- Once cleared, you will receive a link from Equifax for the next step
- I-9 Verification Section 1 – online through Equifax
- You will receive an email from Equifax including your username and password to complete this step of the onboarding process. If you do not receive this email within 3 days of your verbal offer, please let us know. Section 1 Form I9 Instructions

- You must bring Section 2 Required Documentation to complete this step.
- Please complete this prior to your first day to avoid any delay in your job training. Your username and employee ID information will be provided once this information has been processed.
- Schedule an appointment at a convenient STLCC Business Office
- Staff attend an in-person New Employee Orientation hosted at Corporate College on
a bi-weekly schedule. You will receive an invitation from hr-training@stlcc.edu to
attend on your start date or the following week.
- Location: Corporate College
- Topics: Benefits, security, DEIB, technology, wellness, processes, continuing education, and MORE!
- Time: 9a.m.-4p.m.
- Lunch will be provided
- Faculty attend a New Faculty Orientation hosted before each semester. This is hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning.
The Center for Teaching and Learning supports and assists faculty in pursuit of innovation and excellence in teaching and learning by developing and delivering a robust, comprehensive program of professional development opportunities.

The Four I's of Onboarding
- Introduction (1-30 days) – the employee begins to learn their new role and build relationships in the college
- Involvement (30-90 days) – the employee understands their role and discovers ways to contribute to the team and college
- Ideation (90-180 days) – the employee will continue to learn their role and start to utilize critical thinking skills and contribute to the college’s goals
- Independence (180-365 days) – the employee will reach full productivity and receive new development opportunities

As part of the benefit package, STLCC provides employees the opportunity to advance their education through our tuition programs.
STLCC Credit Courses
Employees and their dependents are eligible to participate in the tuition waiver program for STLCC credit courses. (Some part-time positions are included in this benefit.)
Outside University Degree Programs
Full-time staff are able to participate in the tuition reimbursement program after six months of service, up to 18 credit hours per fiscal year per the UMSL undergraduate rate.
