A Message from the Chancellor – Reflecting on 2025 Accomplishments

Chancellor Pittman

As we approach the close of 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on what our team at STLCC has accomplished together. I am deeply grateful for the dedication and commitment our staff and faculty demonstrate to our students.

This year has been extraordinary for St. Louis Community College, and none of it would have been possible without hard work, collaboration and unwavering focus on our shared values.

2025 Success Highlights

  • STLCC Transformed:
Opened and celebrated six new buildings and began significant renovations to improve existing facilities and create modern spaces for learning and innovation across our campuses.
  • Pathways to Success:
Advanced Phase III of Pathways to Success, planning for the Student Success Council and Student Success Teams for each of our six schools, to ensure all students earn a degree, certificate or transfer after completion.
  • An Exceptional Employee Experience:
Launched our second employee engagement survey, hosted Engage and Listen sessions and began developing action plans to strengthen employee engagement.
  • Historic International Achievement:
Celebrated Lulu McGowan's election as the first PTK International President from STLCC.
  • Developing Strong Leaders:
Recognized the April graduates of the Chancellor’s Leadership Academy and launched the new Aspiring Leaders Academy program in October to prepare the next generation of STLCC leaders.
  • Workforce Learning Connection (WLC):
Created the foundation for the Workforce Learning Connection, aligning students to career paths before high school graduation.
  • Bellwether Award Finalist:
Earned national recognition as a Bellwether Award finalist for innovative work by the Course Scheduling Review Team.
  • Higher Education Core Curriculum Transfer Act:
Championed new Missouri legislation that will make it easier for students to transfer from community colleges to four-year public state universities.

These accomplishments reflect the power of collaboration and our shared commitment to student success.

Looking Ahead in 2026

Next year, our focus will be clear: supporting every student toward earning a degree or certificate that leads to a job with family-sustaining wages or transfer to a four-year university after completion.

With the launch of the Workforce Learning Connection, our future students will be even more prepared to graduate from high school with a market-value asset, such as an apprenticeship, internship or early college credit.

With Pathways to Success firmly established, we will work together to remove barriers, provide clearer pathways and create a college experience built on care, belonging and empowerment.

As we head into winter break, I hope students, staff and faculty will recharge and enjoy the holidays with loved ones. When we return in January, we’ll jump into the spring semester with renewed energy and purpose.

I am continually impressed with the care and support shown for our students at STLCC. Warmest wishes for a joyful holiday season and a happy New Year!
