Change Your Major

We know that choosing a major is an important decision. Should you decide that you no longer want to major in your current degree, no problem. Students may change their major up to the Friday of week 4 for the fall or spring term, and one business day prior to the summer session. Students are required to work with an academic advisor before changing their major. Financial aid only pays for courses needed for the student's current major at St. Louis Community College.

The STLCC Academic Catalog provides information on our program offerings. To determine your major and view the required classes for graduation, please run your Degree Audit.

If you are wishing to pursue an online degree program we are required, per federal regulations 34 CFR 668.43 (a)(5)(v) and 34 CFR 668.43 (c), to provide disclosures to all students regarding educational requirements for programs designed to meet professional licensure or certification needed for employment in an occupation or advertised as meeting such requirements.

Remember, only classes that are within a student's declared major are eligible for financial aid funding. Simply follow these steps to declare a different major.

  • Set up an advising appointment with your academic advisor via Navigate.
  • During your appointment your advisor will work with you to fill out the Change of Major form.
  • Once the form is complete you will receive a confirmation link sent to your STLCC email.
  • Click on this link to confirm that the information for your new major is correct. Please note that your request will not be processed until you confirm the changes are correct.
  • Once your major has been officially changed you will receive an email detailing your new major.
