Preferred Name

Students may use preferred first and middle names at STLCC.

Preferred first and middle names are used on class rosters, Canvas, email, and other locations where the legal name is not required. If you have legally changed your name, please update your record in Archer Connect with STLCC. In the My Account tab, click View/Update My Information button in the My Personal Information card.

Where Will My Name Display?

Places Where Preferred First Name is Used

  • Canvas // learning management system (LMS)
  • Class rosters
  • Email
  • Diploma: Students wishing to use a preferred name on their diploma should indicate such on their Application for Graduation.

Places Where Legal First Name is Used

  • Official transcript
  • Financial aid documentation and correspondence
  • 1098-T Tax Form
