Re-Enrollment & Reinstatement

Students affected by our attendance processes will receive emails with the subject lines listed below. It is important to regularly access and read your my.STLCC.edu email. Faculty are also notified.

I'm a Student.

Subject Line: You have been administratively dropped from X Class.

If you receive an email with a subject line of "You have been administratively dropped from X Class.", it means that you have been dropped from a course. You will not receive a grade for the course specified and you will be refunded the amount for the course if you have already paid.

I was attending this course. Can I be re-enrolled?
Email your instructor to request re-enrollment on the basis that you were attending the course. Be sure to specify your student ID and the course/section in your email. If you were truly attending, the instructor will complete a Student Reinstatement form, and send your request along with that form to admissions/enrollment services to process your re-enrollment.

I never attended this course. Can I be re-enrolled?
No. Please use our class schedule to find a replacement course in a later part-of-term. Then, please register in Self-Service Banner or with the help of advising.

Subject Line: Have you stopped attending X Class?

If you receive an email with a subject line of "Have you stopped attending X Class?", this means that your registration status for the class has been updated to reflect "Registered-Stopped Attending" or RN status, for short.

When you have a course registration with RN status, you will not receive financial aid for that course until you complete necessary next steps.

I'm attending, I want to be reinstated.
If you have been attending, please contact your instructor to request reinstatement in the class.

I stopped attending, but I want to be reinstated.
If you have stopped attending, it is up to your instructor on whether or not they will reinstate you in the course. It is possible that your instructor may require classwork from you to justify a reinstatement if you have not been attending.

I stopped attending, but I cannot continue with the class.
If you have stopped attending and do not plan to return to this class, you need to withdraw. It is important that if you do not plan to pursue this class that you withdraw to avoid the recording of an F grade on your transcript.

I have never attended this class, and need to be dropped.
If you have never attended the course, please contact the instructor to request a drop for non-attendance. Your instructor will need to verify that your attendance records reflect all absences in Attendance Tracker. Once the instructor does this, they will contact registrar@stlcc.edu to request that your registration is dropped.

I'm a Faculty Member.

Status says "Drop 100%"

If you have a student listed in the recent add/drop activity email, it means a student has either registered for or withdrawn from your class.

Where the registration description reads "Drop 100%", this means that the student was completely dropped from your class as a result of the drop for non-attendance process. Students are notified via email when they are dropped due to non-attendance.

Students who are dropped do not receive a grade for the course and will be refunded the amount for the course if they already paid.

Student never attended this course, and has not given notice that they plan to attend.
Nothing further is needed from you since you accurately recorded attendance and the student was dropped.

Student was attending this course, but their records prior to the drop were "absent". Can they be re-enrolled?
Yes. Follow the steps below:

  1. Complete a Student Reinstatement form (found in CollegeForms via CollegeWeb)
  2. Forward the student's emailed request along with that form to admissions/enrollment services at your campus to process the re-enrollment. We require the student's consent to re-enroll since they will be accountable for the cost of the course and the grade upon enrollment.

Student never attended this course, but wants to be re-enrolled. Is this permitted?
No. Please encourage the student to use our class schedule to find a replacement course in a later part-of-term. They may register for a replacement course in Self-Service Banner or with the help of advising.

Status says "Registered-Stopped Attending"

If you have a student listed in the recent add/drop activity email, it means a student has either registered for or withdrawn from your class.

Where the registration description reads "Registered-Stopped Attending", this means that the student's registration status for the class is flagged for poor attendance. Based on this status, financial aid may be delayed or retracted for students who are not attending.

When a student is updated to this status, they are notified via email to either withdraw from the class or seek reinstatement with their instructor.

Student is attending, but records were not up-to-date before the process. Student wants to be reinstated.
Update the student's attendance record in Attendance Tracker with a record of "present" for their most recent course meeting. The nightly reinstatement process will "see" the updated record, and reinstate the student.

Student stopped attending, but they want to be reinstated.
You have the discretion on whether or not to allow a student to continue in the course per your individual class attendance policy. You may require classwork from the student to justify a reinstatement if they have not been attending. Once the student completes the agreed upon work, update the student's attendance record in Attendance Tracker with a record of "present" for the associated class meeting. The nightly reinstatement process will "see" the updated record, and reinstate the student.

Student stopped attending, but cannot continue with the class.
Encourage the student to withdraw from the course via Self-Service Banner or with a campus admissions/enrollment office.

Student has never attended this class and needs to be dropped.
If the drop for non-attendance has already occurred and a student remains on your roster who never attended the course, please verify that your attendance records reflect all absences in Attendance Tracker. Then, email the registrar's office at registrar@stlcc.edu to request a manual drop for non-attendance. You will be required to specify the CRN and student ID.
